Sometimes people confused between the
terms, jail broken and open iPhones. Both the terms might
seem quite similar; however, they have poles apart. Jailbreaking is methods
that allow the user to use applications disapproved by Apple product. On the
other hand, unlocking the phone enables the user to use different mobile carriers
on the same device. But without jailbreaking, one cannot open the device. It
makes the concept of unlocked iPhones dependent
on the other one.
Here are some of the benefits of having unlocked iPhones for the users:
Ideal for the business traveler: The customer who travel a lot, face extreme difficulty while using the locked iPhone. They might not get adequate services for their phones. Also, the data and roaming charges might not be favorable. With an open phone, the customer can use the local service provider for short span of time making it cost effective.
Unsupported carrier users can use the Apple phones: The customers who do not want to switch carriers can use the
iPhones after unlocking it. It gives more freedom to the customers to choose a
preferred service provider and device combination, breaking the monopoly of the
individual companies.
While having an unlocked iPhone is better, using proper procedure for unlocking the phone must be followed for security reasons. If a customer enters an unsupported SIM card on their phone, an error message will crop up telling that the phone cannot support the SIM card. The information regarding carrier recommended by the product manufacturer can be found on the manufacture website. If the preferred carrier of the customer is on the given list, they are only required to contact the phone carrier, and the rest will be taken care of by them.
